The company announced this on its Facebook page, and added that initially it will sell only limited quantities of Xiaomi’s Power Banks, Mi headphones and the recently launched Mi Band. Xiaomi expects a flood of interested buyers, and it suggests that users should set up their Mi accounts ahead of launch, to increase their chances. This is a significant move for Xiaomi as it expands its reach to more markets, with India and China being their largest market currently. India became Xiaomi’s second largest market within aar of its entry into the market and sold as many as 1 million smartphones in just 5 months. Also Read - Good news for iPhone loves! As mentioned above, the website is already live and the Mi headphones are listed for $80, while the Mi Band is going for $15. The 5,000mAh Power Bank will retail at $10 and the 10,400mAh Power Bank is priced at $14.
Xiaomi is not planning to sell its smartphones anytime soon in these countries. While there are obvious chances of getting trapped in design and UI patent infringement cases, it is also unlikely to make waves considering carriers subsidize smartphones in those markets. For instance, in the US, one can get an iPhone 6 16GB for $199 on a two-year contract, which is about the same price as Xiaomi’s Mi 4i while its flagship Mi 4 sells for around $300.
