Many are no doubt waiting for Xiaomi to launch its next smart TV in India later this week. In the meanwhile though, the company has quietly launched a new Mi TV in its home country. The new 40-inch Mi TV 4A features voice control, and is priced at RMB 1,699 (approximately Rs 17,500).
As is the case with Xiaomi’s Mi TV series, the new Mi TV 4A flaunts an ultra-thin profile. It features dimensions of 906x560mm, and is only 241mm at the base. As far as the overall design is concerned, Xiaomi has retained the near bezel-less look.
The Mi TV 4A sports a 40-inch full HD display with 178-degree viewing angle, 60Hz refresh rate, 5000:1 static contrast ratio, and 8ms dynamic response. As for specifications, it comes with 64-bit 1.5GHz Amlogic L962-H8X processor, Mali 450 GPU, 1GB RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. It has two 8W speakers with Dolby and DTS enhancements. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, two USB ports, two HDMI ports, one AV port, Ethernet, and one analog signal DTMB.
Despite being an affordable TV, the highlight of the Mi TV 4A is the support for voice control. Essentially, one will be able to give commands via the mic built into the remote control. With the TV running on Xiaomi’s Android-based Patchwall UI, users will be able to give voice commands like “fast forward to 54 minutes and 21 seconds,” “shut down after 10 minutes,” and so on.
Xiaomi has scheduled an announcement for March 7, where it is expected to announce an affordable Mi TV for the Indian market. After launching the Mi TV 4, the Chinese company is widely believed to be launching the 43-inch Mi TV 4C in India. While we are awaiting the official announcement, an accidental listing on the company’s website revealed the Rs 27,999 pricing for the upcoming TV.
The Mi TV 4C is already available in China. It features a full HD display, 1GB RAM, 8GB of storage, a quad-core Amlogic T962 64-bit processor, and comes with support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5 GHz dual-band Wi-Fi), Bluetooth 4.2, Dolby, and DTS Audio. It also comes with a blue light-reducing mode which helps reduce strain on the eyes.
