Xiaomi’s product portfolio is an extremely diverse one, encompassing everything from running shoes to smart home devices. Expanding that line-up even further, the Chinese technology major has launched the Mijia Walkie-Talkie 1S in China. The successor to last year’s Walkie-Talkie, new Mijia Walkie-Talkie 1S significantly improves upon its predecessor, but costs the same. It’s priced at $36, or 249 Yuan. That translates to approximately Rs 2,660.

Xiaomi Mijia Walkie-Talkie 1S features a thin and light construction, along with enhanced performance. The portable gadget features a clip at the back, allowing it to be easily attached to clothes. With 3W transmission power, it also has an extended range of communication. Claimed to have a standby time of five days, Walkie-Talkie 1S, like the previous generation model, features built-in FM radio. It comes in two colors – white and blue.

According to a report by Gizmochina, Xiaomi Mijia Walkie-Talkie 1S will go on sale from October 16, 2018. It’ll be available simultaneously on Mi Mall, Mi Home,, Tmall, Sunig, and other channels. However, there’s no information when (or if) the gadget will be launched outside of China.

Recently, Xiaomi launched its Mi Box S streaming media player at $59. Running Android TV, the Mi Box S is powered by a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, paired with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. These innards give it the capability to play 4K HDR videos at up to 60fps, which is quite impressive, given the set top box’s affordable price. Not just that, there’s support for Dolby DTS audio as well. All standard connectivity options are aboard, including Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI 2.0, audio out, and USB Type-A.

The Mi Box S comes with a nifty remote controller that has a dedicated Google Assistant button, which means you don’t have to fumble around with complicated menus to find your favorite show/movie. What’s more, there’s even a Netflix button, so you can binge-watch to your heart’s desire.
