Adding one more product to its consumer durables portfolio, Xiaomi announced a new smart body scale called Yunmao Good Light Mini 2. The fancy-looking device is the company’s 72nd crowdfunded project and does more than just calculate your body weight. It is priced at 89 Yuan (approximately Rs 840) and is available through Mi home crowdfunding platform. The smart scale will start shipping from May 11 in China.

The smart body scale helps monitor a range of physical data such as weight, body fat, muscle and bone mass, internal organ fat, basal metabolic rate, Body Mass Index (BMI), body age, and protein and water level. To get this data, the smart scale uses a BIA chip and also uses a multi-frequency AC electrical impedance for the measurement of biological tissues.

Talking about the design of the Yunmao Good Light Mini 2; the smart body scale uses an ultra-white tempered glass panel which is anti-skid. With rounded edges, the scale is equipped with high-definition LED display and features electrode sensing film with 304 stainless steel. As the steel has anti-rust properties, users can step on it with wet feet and not be scared of damaging the device. ALSO READ: Xiaomi could soon launch a foldable smartphone, patent suggests

The smart scale is further powered with a low-power Bluetooth 4.0 protocol which turns off automatically when not in use. It is fuelled by three AA batteries which are claimed to last up to a year. Controlling the Yunmao Good Light Mini 2 is simple; all you need is to have the Mi App – the one stop destination to control most of Xiaomi’s smart home products. Using the app, you can further keep a track of all the data provided by the smart scale, all from your smartphone.

Xiaomi is expanding its MIJIA platform, which is its crowdfunding platform for household gadgets and the company already has a range of devices from this brand. However, all these interesting devices are China-exclusive and not available for sale in India.

Earlier this month, the company launched a pair of smart shoes embedded with Intel’s Curie module. The 90 Minutes Ultra Smart Sportswear running shoes are priced at 300 Yuan (approximately Rs 2,900) and are Xiaomi’s first smart shoes to come built-in with Intel Curie – the button-sized chip that stores fitness data in real-time. The smart shoes come with a 60-day battery life. With the Intel Curie module at its heart, the 90 Minutes Ultra Smart Sportswear smart shoes are capable of detecting movement and store data including distance covered, speed, calories lost, etc. It can further track movements including walking, running, and climbing.

Other products in the similar category includes a smart Ukulele, sunglasses, coffee maker, walkie talkie, smart camera, WiFi router, and much more. The company is further expected to launch a new anti-haze mask for children and a heart rate monitor.
