Xiaomi MIUI 10 beta is getting a new version as part of its weekly update release program. The new release of MIUI 10 beta upgrades the software version to 8.9.6 and will be pushed out to all beta users starting September 6. While the update is still not available for download, the company has published a preview that gives a look into the changelog of the update.
Similar to the previous release of MIUI 10 version 8.8.30, the latest version also brings bug fixes and other performance enhancements to the software. The change log reveals that MIUI 10 version 8.9.6 is fixing an issue where unread message from WhatsApp and Telegram did not go away. The previous release of MIUI 10 beta had an issue where WhatsApp and Telegram would display double notifications even when there is only one unread message. This particular issue seems to be finally getting resolved with the release of MIUI 10 version 8.9.6.
The update also addresses camera issue reported by owners of the Redmi Note 5. The users of Redmi Note 5 have complained that the camera app would stop working or an issue would arise when switching to panorama mode. If you have experienced this issue on your Redmi Note 5 then update your device to version 8.9.6, which addresses the problem.
The Xiaomi MIUI 10 version 8.9.6 also brings a fix to address issues such as text translation errors with words such as “First aid” and another instance where notifications cannot be cleared. There is also fix to an issue where some app icons don’t show in the notification panel. Xiaomi plans to push out full change log for this version on Friday.

On Friday, Xiaomi will also release the ROM files for those planning to flash their device or use recovery and fastboot download options. Xiaomi plans to start pushing out the update to more than 22 smartphones later this year. The MIUI 10 brings an interface designed with taller displays in mind but still relies on Android Oreo as the base version.
