In a surprising move, Xiaomi today announced it has partnered with Snapdeal and Amazon to sell its smartphones in India. Of late, Xiaomi has been increasing its retail partnerships to reach out to more consumers in the country. It had tied up with Airtel to make its Redmi Note 4G smartphone available in select Airtel stores, marking its first offline retail foray. A couple of weeks ago, it partnered with The Mobile Store to sell its smartphones in select stores. With Snapdeal and Amazon, Xiaomi has now ensured that its products will be available across the three major e-commerce platforms. However, it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi will go ahead with its flash sale model, which has proven to be a major reason behind its success in India. Will Xiaomi continue to use Flipkart for its flash sales or will all three retailers will get exclusive flash sales?
Last year Xiaomi sold more than a million smartphones in India and claims to be the fifth largest smartphone vendor with 4 percent market share at the end of Q4, 2014.
