Xioami has started rolling out the stable version of its latest custom Android skin, MIUI 9, to all compatible devices. Vice President and India head Manu Kumar Jain made the announcement through a tweet saying the MIUI 9 will now be available to all devices.

With the global rollout of the stable ROM, the company is updating even the most dated of smartphones from its portfolio, including the Redmi 1S and Mi 3. It was last week that the company rolled out the global developer version of the MIUI 9, and starting this week, all the Xiaomi devices receive the stable version.

If you are a Xiaomi user, you will receive a prompt for the OTA update. Alternatively, you can go to the Software Settings on your device, and manually look for an update. As this is a stable update, it is unlikely to cause any damage to data while updating. However, it is always a good practice to keep a backup of the data during such software updates. The MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM now extends to devices including the Redmi 2/Prime, Redmi 4A, Mi MIX 2, Redmi Note 4, and Redmi Note 5 Pro among others.

With MIUI 9, compatible devices receive a range of updates and features including enhanced performance, system optimizations, redesigned UI, app animations, new notifications, and much more.

Interestingly, when the company rolled out the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM to Mi MIX and the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the edge-to-edge display phones also received the famed iPhone X-like full-screen support. MIUI 9 brings full-screen gestures feature available for phones like the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Mi MIX. The feature is supported on the Mi MIX, Mi MIX 2, Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, and the upcoming Xiaomi full-screen display devices, XDA Developers reports.

The gestures can be used to replace the traditional on-screen navigation buttons on 18:9 display devices. If you own an 18:9 Xiaomi device, you can simply head to Settings -> Full Screen Display -> Full Screen Gestures to enable the feature.

Some of the supported gestures including swiping up from the bottom to go back to the Home Screen, swiping up from the bottom and pausing for Recent Apps, and swiping from left or right from the edge of the display for going back to the previous page.
