It’s been two months since Xiaomi launched the Poco F1, the first smartphone under its newly-minted Poco sub-brand. Offering top-of-the-line hardware (e.g. Qualcomm Snapdragon 845) at an ultra-affordable price (starting at Rs 20,999), the Poco F1 gets just about everything right. However, its MIUI-based Poco overlay isn’t exactly the best out there. Wouldn’t it be great if you could get a stock Android experience on the Poco F1? Well, now you can.
The folks at XDA Developers have developed a new custom ROM – Pixel Experience – for Xiaomi Poco F1. Based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie, the ROM, as its name suggests, provides a software experience that’s almost exactly what you would get on Google’s flagship Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones. The ROM comes with the latest security patch (up to October 2018).
According to the ROM’s release notes, Pixel Experience is almost completely devoid of any issues, except for the IR blaster not working (for now). What’s more, it even comes with Google Apps pre-packaged, so you don’t have to manually flash the Gapps package. So, if a non-functional IR blaster isn’t a deal-breaker and you don’t mind tweaking around with your smartphone, Pixel Experience is one of the best custom ROMs you can try on the Poco F1.

As is always the case, flashing Pixel Experience on Xiaomi Poco F1 requires the smartphone to have an unlocked bootloader. Also, you need to have a custom recovery (such as TWRP) installed for manually flashing the ROM package.
