Xiaomi Poco F1 launched in India

Xiaomi’s long-touted flagship smartphone is finally here. With a price tag of Rs 20,999, the new Poco F1 carries some high-end features that could put its competition to shame. The smartphone comes powered with Snapdragon 845 SoC tagged alongside 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also features a 6.18-inch full HD+ screen with an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

Above that, the smartphone comes with some high-end features including a liquid cooling solution, a face unlocking system that can work in the dark and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support through a Type-C port. The phone will go on sale from August 29 via Flipkart and mi.com,

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 launched in India

While Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 9 earlier in the month in New York, the company officially introduced the smartphone to its Indian Fans today in Delhi. The company unveiled features of the smartphone along with its pricing and availability.

The Indian variant of the Galaxy Note 9 will be powered by an Exynos 9810 octa-core SoC and will be offered in the same two variants of 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB of RAM with 512GB of storage. Both variants are priced at Rs 67,900 and Rs 84,900 respectively. The Galaxy Note 9 will be available for purchase through Flipkart, Samsung Online Store, and offline retail channels starting August 24.

10.or D2 launched in India as Amazon exclusive

Amazon India’s in-house smartphone brand 10.or announced its second budget smartphone today called the 10.or D2. The smartphone comes with basic specs and will be available on Amazon exclusively from August 27 for Prime members, and August 28 for all buyers. The base variant features 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage and is priced at Rs 6,999. While the higher-end variant featuring 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is priced at 7,999. The smartphone will be competing with the likes Xiaomi Redmi 5A and the newly launched Infinix Smart 2 in the entry-level segment.

Google Fit gets a complete visual overhaul

Google issued a new update for its fitness app called Fit, which has already been rolled out for both Android smartphones and smartwatches based on WearOS. The update brings in a new UI that puts two smart activity goals front and center called, ‘Move Minutes’ and ‘Heart Points’. According to Google, the goals are designed to help users get the right amount of intensity in an activity to improve their health. The company claims to have developed the goals with the help of American Heart Association (AHA), and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Airtel introduces new international roaming packs for prepaid subscribers

Bharti Airtel has launched three new international roaming packs for its prepaid users that will be valid in twenty countries, including United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and more. Priced at Rs 196, Rs 296 and Rs 446, the plans offer talk time of 20 minutes, 40 minutes and 75 minutes, respectively. With the plan, Airtel users can also make free local and outgoing calls to India.

OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T get August security patch with OxygenOS 5.1.5 update

OnePlus is rolling out its latest software update for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T dubbed as OxygenOS 5.1.5. The new update brings the August 2018 Android security patch to the devices along with some other improvements. A notable feature it brings is a new option that allows users to set “Confirm PIN without tapping the tick mark button” when they are on the unlock screen of the phone.
