Xiaomi for some time now has been touted to launch a new series of smartphones dubbed as Pocophone. While we have come across a number of leaks around the series in the past few weeks, there was no confirmation about the markets Xiaomi planned to launch the new series of smartphones in. But now, with a tweet from Jai Mani, Xiaomi India’s Lead Product Manager, we have a strong reason to believe that the new smartphone lineup will be coming to India.

Posted earlier today, Jai Mani’s tweet mentions him to be working on a new project which highlights a new twitter handle called @IndiaPOCO along with @GlobalPocoPhone. The tweet also carries an image which states, “POCO by Xiaomi”, written in gold letters. This more or less confirms that Xiaomi is planning to launch the new series in India. Not just that, Xiaomi India also seems to have responded to the tweet wishing him more luck with it.

Based on previous rumors, Pocophone is said to carry a premium set of smartphones in its lineup. It has been reported earlier that the first smartphone from the series is likely to be called Pocophone F1. Recent rumors have suggested the device to come with a Snapdragon 845 SoC along with 4,000mAh battery. For better performance, the smartphone is also said to feature a liquid cooling system. Rumors have indicated the device to come with a 6.18-inch FHD+ display with a notch at the top.

The smartphone is also suggested to come with a dual camera setup at the back, but the specifics haven’t been revealed. The front camera on the other hand is said to carry a 20-megapixel sensor tagged along with IR face unlock technology.  A recently leaked unboxing video also reveals the device to come with a premium metal unibody design that features a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and speaker grills at the bottom.
