Xiaomi is often called the Apple of China. The company has been accused of taking liberal inspirations from Apple. Heck, even design guru Jony Ive called Xiaomi out for copying Apple’s design. While it could be pure coincidence, but the venue – Siri Fort Auditorium – shares its name with Apple’s voice assistant. The largest hall in Siri Fort Auditorium has a capacity to accommodate over 1,800 people, which makes it one of the largest indoor event venues in the city. Being the first global product launch outside of China, Xiaomi has invited its fans to attend and had organized contests to give out tickets. Sources tell me that the Chinese smartphone sensation is expecting over 2,000 people to attend the launch event and has kept aside over an hour to just seat all the attendees.
Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi 4i today, which looks to be a stripped down version of the Mi 4, with a smaller 4.9-inch display, 2GB RAM, and running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor.
