After Xiaomi Redmi 1S was sold out in 4.2 seconds today in its first flash sale on Flipkart, the company has announced that the second flash sale will be conducted on September 9 at 2PM and registration for the same will begin at 6PM today. We find this second flash sale announcement a bit odd, as Xiaomi has no plans of delivering the units sold today, any time before September 16. Flipkart s Redmi 1S page mentions that the smartphone will be delivered in 7-10 days, but the moment buyers reach the payment page, the expected delivery date changes to September 16. This 15 day wait instead of the promised 7-10 day delivery has got customers thoroughly disgruntled. The question, however, arises that if Xiaomi is unable to deliver the goods, why conduct another flash sale on September 9 even before the previous orders are delivered?
As usual, on September 9, only registered customers will be able to participate in the sale. The flash sale today saw 2,50,000 registered users with only 40,000 units up for grabs. These were snapped up in 4.2 seconds, according to the company.
The Redmi 1S features a 4.7-inch HD 720p display, 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and a 2,000mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean wrapped under Xiaomi s MIUI.
The registration will be open till midnight of September 8 after which you will not be able to register to buy the device. Starting from 6PM today, you can register for the Xiaomi Redmi 1S here.
