Xiaomi has released a major update for the Redmi 1S handsets in India. Among general bug fixes, the update resolves the much-complained heating issues as well as fixes bugs in memory and user interface, Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra announced on his social network accounts. An over-the-air (OTA) update – which is titled v45 and is 11MB in size – has been seeded out, which particularly addresses the concerns that Indian users made over the past few weeks. “Today we released an over-the-air system update (v45) for the Redmi 1S. This release incorporates feedback received from a large number of users and addresses a few important issues,” Barra wrote. Heating & battery life : The update brings changes to the thermal control algorithm which helps to bring down the temperature of the phone from 45C to under 38C in normal usage conditions. The update also improves the battery life of the phone.
RAM availability: The issue that caused background apps to close while running heavier programs on the front-end has been resolved as well. The company assures noticeable improvements.
UI performance: The update also patches issues like frame rate drops and UI lag. The company says that overheating and lack of RAM availability caused CPU throttling that lead to such issues. With the v45 update, that has been resolved as well.
