After conducting flash sales and making it available freely on Flipkart, the Redmi 2 will now also be available offline via select Airtel stores across the country. The development was first reported by 91mobiles, who claim that the smartphone will be priced similar to its online price of Rs 6,999. Xiaomi first partnered with Airtel in January to sell the Redmi Note 4G , in its first move to foray into the offline space. After that, it partnered with The Mobile Store to sell the Mi 4 and Redmi Note 4G. It recently even broke all exclusivity with Flipkart and made it products available on Amazon and Snapdeal as well. As far as the specifications are concerned, the Redmi 2 brings in quite a few improvements over its predecessor. It flaunts a 4.7-inch HD (1280 720 pixels) IPS laminated display with a pixel density of 312ppi and protected by Asahi Dragontrail. Under the hood is a 64-bit 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU.
Also included is 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. On the photography front, it features an 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture and 28mm wide-angle lens, supplemented with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone also features a 2,200mAh battery, which is not only 10 percent bigger than its predecessor, but thanks to QuickCharge 1.0, charges 20 percent faster as well.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots with both supporting LTE (TDD-LTE Band 40 2300MHz and FDD-LTE Band 3 1800MHz), Wi-Fi, USB OTG, Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on MIUI 6 out-of-the-box.
