Earlier today, Xiaomi launched the successor to the popular Redmi 1S — the Redmi 2. The smartphone was first launched in China at the beginning of the year. As far as the specifications are concerned, the Redmi 2 flaunts a 4.7-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of 312ppi and is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU. Also included is 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,200mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi, USB OTG, Bluetooth, and on the software front, it runs on MIUI 6 out-of-the-box. Xiaomi has also announced the Redmi 2 Limited Edition, which essentially boasts a bumped up RAM, and internal storage — 2GB and 16GB. The company has revealed that this smartphone will go on sale in India soon.
