Following the success of its most prized device Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi further continued the Redmi family by launching Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime. The Redmi 3s and the Redmi 3s Prime were launched back in August in India, priced at Rs 6,999 and Rs 8,999 respectively. Both the smartphones have been available on Xiaomi s official website for quite some time now, and have even hit the e-commerce sites during the festive sales. Adding to the galore of purchase occurring due to these sales, both the smartphones are going on sale on Flipkart at 12:00PM today. Xiaomi s ‘Diwali with Mi’ sale has already kicked off today where both the Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime are on sale with a discount of Rs 500. But considering the heavy rush, if you miss out on buying either of the devices, you can try out on Flipkart as well. Xiaomi even announced that during the first sale, they had sold a total of 90,000 units of the Redmi 3s Prime in just eight minutes. There is no registration for the Redmi 3s smartphones, as it will be an open sale. So everybody will have to keep their fingers steady to grab once the clock strikes 12. Speaking about sales, Xiaomi has already grabbed the third spot as the largest smartphone vendor across 30 cities in India as of Q2, 2016. According to an IDC report, Xiaomi has a total of 8.1 percent share in these cities followed by Intex and Lenovo-Motorola combined with eight percent and 7.2 percent shares respectively.
Xiaomi Redmi 3s is the lower variant of the two and comes with 2GB of RAM plus 16GB internal storage. Whereas the Redmi 3s Prime smartphone, being the higher variant comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Another major difference is that the Redmi 3s Prime features a fingerprint scanner while the Redmi 3s doesn t.
Every smartphone company is vying for a top spot in the entry level market of smartphones by offering the best features and specifications at the most affordable price. The Redmi 3s series stand out among the entry-level smartphones with its all-metal unibody design, which reminds one of the Redmi Note 3. The smartphones are backed by a 4,100mAh battery, which is actually bigger than the 4,000mAh battery present in the Redmi Note 3.
The connectivity options available are dual-SIM support (hybrid setup), 4G LTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. On the software front, both smartphones run on Android Marshmallow 6.0 based MIUI 7. Both the smartphones have expandable storage via a microSD card, with up to 32GB expandable storage in the Redmi 3s and 128GB expandable storage in the Redmi 3s Prime.
