Xiaomi Redmi 4 was launched in India earlier this month and the smartphone went up on sale for the first time earlier today. Priced at Rs 6,999, the smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The Redmi 4 also comes in two other variants offering 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage for Rs 8,999 and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage for Rs 10,999. The smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 based MIUI 8 custom ROM out-of-the-box. While the Redmi 4 smartphone is yet to receive Android Nougat OS update, the Chinese manufacturer is expected to roll out Android Nougat based MIUI 8 OS soon. Prior to that, Xiaomi is now looking for Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A users who would like to get early hands-on the new MIUI OS. From a discussion thread on MIUI forum, it is known that Xiaomi is inviting beta testers for the MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM who would get up and close with the new improvements and upgrades on the OS before it is released to general public. Anyone with a Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A handset in India can apply to become a beta tester. The forum is accepting MIUI 8 Beta tester application until May 28 only.
How to register for Android 7.0 Nougat-based MIUI 8 Beta?
To sign up, being familiar with MIUI forum is a pre-requisite. If you have not been on the forum then first you need to register to create a Mi account. Visit the MIUI forum here and then click on sign in. You can also download the APK file for MIUI forum app from here or follow this link to download it from the Play Store. Users can also directly install the app from the Play store.
Once you have the MIUI forum app or signed into the web version, select ‘Recruitment Fill’ on the homepage. The form would require basic information about your device model, which in this case is Redmi 4, time since you are using the particular device and why do you want to get beta. After you have provided information as stated, click the Submit button. Upon submission, your form will be reviewed by forum moderator. Once approved, the moderator will send you a PM (private message). You can expect this message to arrive on May 30.
