Nubia today launched the lighter version of its N1 smartphone, the N1 Lite. The smartphone comes with front soft-light flash which the company says is unique for this price segment. The Nubia N1 Lite features a polycarbonate body with a shiny gold metallic frame covering the sides of the smartphone. The Nubia N1 Lite also features a fingerprint sensor, which is placed at the rear end of the smartphone. Considering how the budget segment has grown to be highly crowded and competitive, the Nubia N1 Lite already has a tough competition from the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Micromax Evok Power. The competing smartphones also come with a similar set of specifications and are in the same price range. Here s a comparison between the three smartphones on the basis of price, specifications, and features. The Nubia N1 Lite features a 5.5-inch HD display while the Redmi 4 and Evok Power feature a smaller 5-inch display with full HD and HD resolutions respectively. Chipset, RAM, and Storage
The Nubia N1 Lite is powered by a MediaTek 6737 quad-core processor clocked at 1.25GHz and paired with Mali-T7200 GPU. The Evok Power comes with the same chipset but its clock speed is slightly higher with 1.3GHz. The Redmi 4 stands apart as it powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 435 octa-core SoC. In terms of memory, all three smartphones come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The expandable storage capacity is different on all the three smartphones. The storage on the Nubia N1 Lite can be expanded up to 32GB, the Evok Power supports expandable storage up to 2TB and on the Redmi 4 its onboard storage can go up to 128GB.
For photography, the Nubia N1 Lite sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with soft-light flash. The Evok Power too features an 8-meagpixel rear camera with features like auto-focus, zoom level, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. The Redmi 4 has a higher megapixel count, as it houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and LED flash. The front camera remains the same with a 5-megapixel sensor.
The Nubia N1 Lite is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery which the company claims can provide up to 500 hours of standby time and 24 hours of talktime. The Micromax Evok Power comes with a bigger 4,000mAh battery and the Redmi 4 comes with an even bigger 4,100mAh battery. Battery life obviously comes as a strong factor here in determining which smartphone to choose. Xiaomi s Redmi series already stands out for its strong battery life, and the Redmi 4 could very well have a stronger foot here. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Redmi 4 Review: Big on everything, small in size
Connectivity and OS
All three smartphones have connectivity options like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. On the software front, the three smartphones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Redmi 4 comes with the company s own MIUI 8 spread on top.
Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Micromax Evok Power seem to be overpowering the Nubia N1 Lite with the 2.5D curved glass, bigger batteries, better storage options and also the 4G VoLTE support. However, the performance on the Nubia N1 Lite in comparison to the Redmi 4 and Evok Power is yet to be seen and a fair judgment can be made only after it is reviewed.
