While the Indian market still awaits the launch of the smaller Redmi 5 in India (which is expected on February 14), the Chinese market has had the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus available since December 2017. Reportedly, the navigation gestures will work a bit differently on the Redmi 5 Plus, compared to the iPhone X and OnePlus 5T. On the Redmi 5 Plus, if you swipe from the bottom, you will trigger a home button-like action, in other words, the phone will navigate you to your homescreen. If you swipe from the bottom and pause, you will activate multitasking, while you will need to swipe up and to the side in order to trigger the ‘back’ function. So, the first two actions are basically identical as on the iPhone X and OnePlus 5T, while the ‘back’ action functions a bit differently.
Additionally, it has also been reported that Xiaomi may be pushing such navigation gestures to all of its full-screen smartphones, Which means, we could expect the feature on the Xiaomi Mi 7, and the rumored Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S.
