Xiaomi is reportedly said to be gearing up to launch the next generation Redmi smartphone. A recently leaked series of images hint at the Redmi 5 smartphone, which will be the successor to the Redmi 4 smartphone. In line with previous rumors, the leaked images confirm that the Redmi 5 will get two variants featuring 2GHz Snapdragon 625 SoC and 2.2GHz Snapdragon 630 SoCs. A Weibo post allegedly shows the Xiaomi Redmi 5 in its full glory, and also lists its specifications. The upcoming Redmi smartphone is said to come with 3GB and 4GB RAM options. A significant change noticed is the smaller 3,680mAh battery. The Redmi 4, in comparison, comes with a 4,100mAh battery underneath. The leaked image also reveals the alleged variants that are likely to launch, as well as their prices. The Redmi 5 variant with Snapdragon 630 SoC, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant will be priced at RMB 1,099 (Rs 10,400 approximately), while the 32GB variant with 4GB RAM will retail at RMB 1,199 (Rs 11,400 approximately). The variant with Snapdragon 630 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage will be priced at RMB 1,299 (Rs 12,350 approximately). The last two variants are expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC . The 16GB variant with 3GB RAM will be priced at RMB 859 (Rs 8,100 approximately), and finally the 32GB variant with 3GB RAM will be priced at RMB 1,039 (Rs 9,800 approximately). From what we know so far, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 is expected to feature a 5-inch Full HD (1080p) IPS display, and all the variants will support expandable storage up to 128GB. The smartphone is expected to run on upcoming MIUI 9 UI based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out-of-the-box. It also has a similar rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric unlocking as seen on the Redmi 4 smartphone. For photography, the Redmi 5 could come with a 16-megapixel camera on the rear with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. For connectivity, the smartphone offers dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
