Xiaomi Redmi 5A, the entry-level smartphone from India’s leading smartphone brand and ZenFone Max Pro M1, the new challenger to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro, will go on sale today at 12PM. The Redmi 5A will be available for purchase on Xiaomi’s own website as well as on Flipkart while the ZenFone Max Pro M1 will be available exclusively on Flipkart. Xiaomi Redmi 5A was launched last year as the successor to Redmi 4A, which was among the top three best-selling smartphones in the country in 2017. Xiaomi VP Manu Jain recently confirmed that Redmi 5A has become the second smartphone after Redmi Note 4 to cross 1 million ratings on Flipkart. The Redmi 5A along with other models has helped Xiaomi hold on to its leadership position in the Indian smartphone market for the second consecutive quarter. Xiaomi Redmi 5A specifications and price
The Redmi 5A is priced at Rs 5,999 and will be available in gold, dark grey, light blue and rose gold color options. The sale begins at 12PM and if past sales are any kind of an indicator then expect the smartphone to run out of stocks within few minutes.
The Redmi 5A is an entry-level device and it comes with specifications better than its predecessor. It features a 5-inch display with HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Powering the device is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset coupled with option for 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB internal storage.

On the camera front, the Redmi 5A features a 13-megapixel rear camera with 5-element lens, HDR and single LED flash. At the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture and facial recognition support. It comes with connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and 4G LTE. The dual-SIM Redmi 5A runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat and packs a decent 3,000mAh battery. The smartphone is priced at Rs 5,999 for the 2GB RAM variant and Rs 6,999 for the 3GB RAM variant.
Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Specifications and Price
Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 has emerged as one of the most worthy challengers to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro. The smartphone was launched in April and will be available today at 12PM exclusively on Flipkart.
The ZenFone Max Pro M1 is the first device launching as part of a new strategic partnership with Flipkart. The company plans to launch more such devices exclusively on Flipkart, designed with the needs of online consumers in mind. Since its launch, the ZenFone Max Pro has seen reasonable success especially considering its price and features. On its website, Flipkart notes that the smartphone will also be available in grey color during today’s sale.
To recall, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and support for taller 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, which is the same as the one found on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 comes in two storage variants – 3GB RAM model with 32GB storage and a 4GB RAM model with 64GB storage.
Like many other smartphones in the segment, the ZenFone Max Pro also features vertically stacked dual-camera setup at the rear. It comes with a combination of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual cameras that support bokeh for portrait shots. The front camera uses an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and dedicated LED flash for brighter selfies in low-light.
The ZenFone Max Pro M1 runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo making it the first Asus smartphone to ditch its own Zen UI. It received a new software update soon after launch that brought support for the face unlock feature. One of the USPs of the device is its massive 5,000mAh battery. It is priced at Rs 10,999 for the 3GB RAM variant while the 4GB RAM variant will set you back by Rs 12,999.
