Last month, Xiaomi launched the affordable Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A in China. As the names suggest, these are the successors to the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A. If a new report is to be believed, these new devices will make it to India, but don’t hold your breath for them.
A 91Mobiles report cites industry sources claiming that Xiaomi’s two new Redmi smartphones will launch in India sometime in September. There is, however, no word on an exact date of launch. An interesting thing to note will be the processor powering the smartphones. In China, both smartphones come with a MediaTek SoC under the hood. Despite the legal issues in India, the report claims that these smartphones will be coming to India without any tweaks.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6A in China last month. The Redmi 6 is priced at RMB 599 (approximately Rs 6,300). The Redmi 6, on the other hand, was launched in two variants. The 32GB+3GB variant is priced at RMB 799 (approximately Rs 8,500), whereas the 64GB+4GB RAM variant is priced at RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,500).
