Xiaomi Redmi 6, the new entry-level Android smartphone, will be available for purchase today. The smartphone will be available exclusively from Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart and Xiaomi’s own e-commerce website, the mi.com. The Redmi 6 was introduced in India alongside the Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro and is the successor to last year’s Redmi 5.
In our review, we observed that the Redmi 6 is an incremental update that keeps this particular model on top of the budget range. The Redmi 6 series brings parity with the Redmi Note series as Xiaomi faces increased competition from other Chinese smartphone makers. Xiaomi is currently the leader in India’s competitive smartphone market and with the Redmi 6 series, the company is trying to thwart rivals, including Asus, Honor, Oppo and Vivo.
Xiaomi Redmi 6 features and specifications
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 features a 5.45-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It comes powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core SoC, which sports maximum clock speeds of 2.0GHz. The smartphone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Additionally, the smartphone storage can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.
The dual-rear camera setup on the Redmi 6 consists of a 12-megapixel primary sensor working alongside a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, it boasts a 5-megapixel camera for taking selfies. The camera is backed by AI beautification mode to help take perfect pictures.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, GLONASS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and runs MIUI 9.6 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
