In a fresh teaser shared today via Weibo, Xiaomi is promising that Redmi 6 will have no lags even after long-term use. It is not immediately clear what Xiaomi means by saying the smartphone will not lag even after long term-use. In the case of Android smartphones, it is commonly observed that devices slow down in terms of performance after certain period of time. Most Android OEMs tend to address this issue by offering software updates, which don’t often reach entry-level and mid-range smartphones. With Redmi 6 teaser, Xiaomi might be hinting at continued software support for the device even few years after its purchase. However, the company does not reveal what sort of optimization one can expect to ensure smooth functionality even with long-term use.
At its annual product launch event last month, Xiaomi introduced MIUI 10 as the next iteration of its mobile user experience. The new MIUI 10 is said to be smoother and offer quick response compared to MIUI 9. It also comes with deep AI integration for optimized performance and app launch times depending on the user behavior. There is a possibility that Xiaomi is suggesting MIUI 10 out-of-the-box on Redmi 6 when it gets announced next week.
The Redmi 6 has reportedly appeared on TENAA, China’s telecom authority with model number M1805D1SE. It features a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display and Snapdragon 625 found on the Redmi Note 5. It is likely to arrive in storage options of 2GB RAM + 16GB storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.

The Redmi 6 might feature dual rear camera setup with 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. It may also feature a 5-megapixel sensor at the front for selfies. It is expected to launch with MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, and pack a 3,900mAh battery. There are reports of Xiaomi launching the Redmi 6 at a starting price of RMB 799 (around Rs 8,500).
