The three models are likely to be a part of the Redmi 6-series the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, and the Redmi 6 Pro. Successor to the Redmi 5A, the new Redmi 6A will bring the taller 18:9 display, and a powerful chipset under the hood. Based on the TENAA listing, it features a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, and resolution of 1440x720pixels. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC, with 2GB, 3GB and 4GB RAM variants. Storage variants include 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, with microSD card option to expand further. With a 13-megapixel rear camera and LED flash, the Redmi 6A will come with a 5-megapixel front camera, the listing reveals. Armed with a 3,000mAh battery, the smartphone will run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, with MIUI 10 on top. There is no word on the pricing and Xiaomi has not revealed the launch date yet, but with the TENAA certification in place, the unveiling may not be far off.
In comparison, the Redmi 5A features a 5-inch HD (720p) display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core chipset. It is available in two different storage options 2GB RAM variant with 16GB storage, and a 3GB RAM variant offering 32GB of storage.
The Redmi 5A features a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. It supports connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and 4G LTE. The Redmi 5A is a dual-SIM smartphone, and it runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat, and packs a decent 3,000mAh battery.
