Xiaomi has launched its latest smartphones in India, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 series. The three smartphones in the series are the Xiaomi Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 Pro, and all of the phones go on sale in September. All three smartphones have been launched running Android Oreo, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 9.6 interface on top. Xiaomi has now confirmed that all three smartphones will receive MIUI 10 in the coming months.
MIUI 10 has already been rolling out in China, and is expected to be launched soon for global markets as well. The custom OS is currently based on various Android versions from Android Marshmallow to Oreo, and brings improved features to the phones. In the coming months, MIUI 10 will also be adapted to Android 9.0 Pie, the latest version of Google’s popular smartphone operating system.
Xiaomi has already announced a list of devices that will be compatible with MIUI 10 going forward, and the three phones announced today are a part of this list. The latest version is, as such, not restricted to high-end devices, and even these affordable devices are in line for the upcoming version of Xiaomi’s software. However, while the phones have been launched on Android Oreo for now, there’s no word on whether they are in line for Android 9.0 Pie.
