Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has been actively making announcements on Weibo in the last couple of weeks. Jun asks readers to expect the launch of a new Xiaomi Note device on June 29. This teaser is in line with the roadmap leaked last month, which claims that the company will be launching the Redmi Note 2 and the Redmi Note 2 Pro. Also Read - Are Chinese brands making the Indian government jittery?
There is no way of saying which smartphone could be unveiled later this month. But going by the buzz, the scales slightly tip in favor of the Redmi Note successor. The phablet was recently spotted on China’s Quality Certification Center.
From what we have heard so far, the Redmi Note 2 is likely to flaunt a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and will be powered by MediaTek s latest Helio X10 (MT6795) chipset. The last bit though contradicts earlier reports that claimed the phablet will have a Snapdragon 410 (MSM8919) processor underneath.
Other features expected on the forthcoming phablet include a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery, LTE support, and run on Android Lollipop wrapped under MIUI 6.
In comparison, the Redmi Note available today features a 5.5-inch 720p display, 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core chipset, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage. Also featured are 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, 3,200mAh battery, and connectivity options like LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
