The primary reason why you shouldn t buy the Redmi Note 4 now from Amazon India is simply because Xiaomi hasn t really launched the smartphone yet. The smartphones listed on the e-commerce site is being sold by an unknown seller going by the name Generic (Unbranded) . If that name wasn t a warning enough, a quick look at the specifications shows that the variants are powered by MediaTek processors. With Xiaomi embroiled in a patent battle with Ericsson, the Court has barred the Chinese company from selling MediaTek-powered devices in India. Then there s also the inflated pricing, and the smartphones on Amazon India are priced at Rs 21,491 and Rs 27,055 for the 16GB and 64GB variants respectively. In comparison, the smartphone is available in China for RMB 899 (approximately Rs 9,000), and RMB 1,199 (Rs 12,000 approximately) respectively. In the meanwhile, Xiaomi has sent out media invites for a launch event in New Delhi on January 19. Though the invite didn t reveal a lot apart from the fact that it will be a Redmi smartphone, the company is widely expected to launch the much-awaited Redmi Note 4 at the event. As the name suggests, the upcoming smartphone is the successor to the highly popular Redmi Note 3.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 specifications
As far as specifications are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 flaunts a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and for the Indian market it is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC.
The rest of the specifications include a 13-megapixel rear camera LED flash, 5-megapixel selfie camera, a 4,100mAh battery, fingerprint sensor, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots (hybrid setup), 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, the Redmi Note 4 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 layered atop.
