Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 to get MIUI 10 in October

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will be among the first batch of devices to get MIUI 10 update in India.

Xiaomi announced MIUI 10, its latest interface overlayed on top of Android for all Redmi and Mi devices, at its event in May. The new interface is being rolled out to select models in a staged manner, and is expected to first become available for newer models like the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A.

Xiaomi has also detailed a roadmap where it plans to release the update to last year’s models like the Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, and the Redmi Note 4. With MIUI 10, Xiaomi is introducing one of the biggest revamps for the user interface of its mobile operating system. It is being designed with modern devices supporting 18:9 or taller aspect ratio in mind. The MIUI 10 update will not only bring a new interface, but also improvements to overall devices.

Xiaomi MIUI 10 Stable ROM release for Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi is not known for releasing timely software updates. The new MIUI 10 is still based on Android 8.1 Oreo and the newest Android 9 Pie is not expected to hit Xiaomi devices until early next year. With MIUI 10, Xiaomi is planning to offer the update to a large set of devices including some of the older budget devices. Among the list of devices eligible for the update include Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 4 among others.

As per a new post on MIUI forum, Xiaomi has detailed when the update will be pushed out to compatible devices. If you own a Redmi Note 4 or a newer device like the Redmi 6 then expect MIUI 10 stable ROM to hit your device around mid-October. The MIUI 10 Stable ROM has become one of the most awaited software updates for Xiaomi devices and with it, Xiaomi is promising major enhancements.

MIUI 10 brings support for full-screen user interface, and will offer the best experience on devices like the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Poco F1 which have displays with taller aspect ratio of 18:9 or higher. It brings a revamped recent apps menu which adopts a card style layout, and users can interact with these cards by touching and long-pressing on them.

It also integrates AI to bring down the loading time for applications and it will understand user behavior to increase launch time of frequently used applications. There is also smart home manager and driving mode, which could be limited to Chinese market at the time of launch. One of the key additions with MIUI 10 is the support for single camera portrait mode. This feature will allow users of Redmi Note 5 to take pictures with blurred background.
