Xiaomi shifted business tactics when they announced that they will be selling the Redmi Note 4G at the 133 Airtel stores without any prior online registration. The pilot offline flash sale begins at 3:00PM today, and will go on till stocks last. The company however hasn t revealed the number of units that will be available at each store. Basically, today at 3:00PM, Airtel stores in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Kolkata will open doors to all customers, who will walk-in, get cosy with the device, make a purchase decision, and walk out with a Redmi Note 4G if they want. No online registration, no pre-booking. This is the first time Xiaomi is completely ditching the online route, and going all out traditionally offline. Airtel, calling it Mi Day, has announced that it will conduct this offline flash sale on a weekly basis, depending on the stock availability. Note that the Redmi Note 4G can only be bought from Airtel stores, if the user buys a new Airtel connection, or existing users recharge their connection with 1GB 3G data pack. If you are looking for a new connection, the company suggests you carry a copy of ID proof, address proof, and a passport size photograph for submission. For cities that already have 4G Airtel services, Airtel will give them 4G speed connection for 3G prices.
To recap on the specs, the Redmi Note 4G is powered by a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 305 GPU and 2GB RAM. It also features a 5.5-inch HD (1280 720 pixels) IPS display, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and 8GB internal storage, microSD card support, and a 3,100mAh battery. On the software front, it runs on Android KitKat wrapped under MIUI 5. Connectivity options include single-SIM card slot, and the device supports both FDD-LTE at 1800MHz, and TDD-LTE at 2300MHz.
