Xiaomi will be launching the successor to its popular Redmi Note 4 today. As is the case with most smartphones, details about the Redmi Note 5 have also surfaced on the web multiple times. We already have a fair idea on what to expect from the smartphones, and we only have to wait for the smartphone to be listed on Flipkart. In addition to the affordable smartphones, Xiaomi is also expected to bring the Mi TV 4 to India. The smart TV was teased through Flipkart. Here’s a look at everything we know about today’s launches.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro, on the other hand, will be priced at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage while the 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage version will cost Rs 16,999. There is also a third variant of the Redmi Note 5 Pro which could possibly include 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage. However, pricing of this model is not mentioned in the given tweet.

The Redmi Note 5 will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to launch in India in 2018. Based on the leaks we have come across so far, the upcoming smartphone is expected to feature a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 625 SoC, and 3GB/4GB of RAM.

The rest of the rumored specifications include 32GB/64GB storage options, 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, fingerprint sensor, and a 4,000mAh battery.

The smartphone is said to run Android Nougat with MIUI 9 running atop. The Redmi Note 5 is also likely to be available in color choices of black, rose gold, gold, and blue. The smartphone’s prices too have surfaced online. The 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage model is said to cost Rs 9,999, while the 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage is said to cost Rs 11,999.

Rumors also hint at a Pro variant of the Redmi Note 5. This variant is said to feature a Snapdragon 636 SoC, and it is likely to come in two variants as well – 4GB/6GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB of internal storage.

Based on the leaks, the one big differentiating factor will be the presence of a dual-camera setup on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Leaked specifications indicate at a combination of 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel sensors at the back to add more depth to photos for a DSLR-like effect. Up front, there’s said to be a 20-megapixel camera.

Xiaomi Mi TV 4

Surprisingly, Flipkart of all people hinted at the third launch for the day. The Mi TV 4 was first showcased at CES 2017, and it will be coming to our shores today. The USP of the smart television is its uber thin frame. Flipkart’s teaser page also hints at a device which is only 4.9mm in thickness. If it indeed is the Mi TV 4, it will be Xiaomi’s first offering in India in the TV segment.

Despite the leaks seeming pretty convincing, it is advisable to wait for the official announcement by Xiaomi. As there’s always a possibility of some launch day offers of initial price cuts to woo customers. Xiaomi will be live streaming the event at 12 PM today. Stay tuned as we cover it live.
