After the huge success of the Redmi Note 4, launched last year, all eyes are now set to see how well Xiaomi does with the Redmi Note 5. We have been hearing developments about Xiaomi working on the Redmi Note 5. While the smartphone was expected to launch in the second quarter of 2018, latest reports confirm that the Redmi Note 5 might launch as soon as the end of next month.

According to MyDrivers, the Redmi Note 5 might even launch before Xiaomi’s flagship Mi 7. While the company has not officially confirmed anything as yet, Xiaomi product PR representative, Clinton Jeff, recently hinted that the next month will see announcements for the Indian market. Reports also hint that Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus will launch in India as Redmi Note 5. To recap, Redmi 5 Plus was launched in China December last year.

In other news, Xiaomi MEE7S and MET7S devices have been spotted in China again, but this time the smartphones have cleared 3C certification in China. According to the listing, the Redmi Note 5 will launch in two variants – the base variant will be powered by Snapdragon 630 SoC, while the premium variant is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC. In terms of pricing, the two variants are expected to be priced at RMB 1,499 (Rs 15,000 approximately) for the base variant and RMB 1,799 (Rs 18,000 approximately) for the premium variant.

In terms of specifications, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature a 5.99-inch Full HD (2160 x 1080 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The processor is expected to be paired with 32GB internal storage with 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage with 4GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the smartphone is said to run the old Android 7.1 Nougat operating system with MIUI 9 on top. The smartphone is expected to be backed by 4,000mAh battery. Further, leaks also suggest that the smartphone will come with facial recognition feature.
