The global ROM based on Android Oreo will carry the build number 184.108.40.206.OEIMIFA. The update was in beta for a long time and the company had to squash a number of bugs. Now, the update has been deemed stable and is ready for being released as over-the-air update for Redmi Note 5 Pro. It needs to be noted that the smartphone is getting a version of Android, which was released in August last year.
This further shows the poor state of Android smartphones, especially ones running forked version of the mobile operating system. Google is preparing to release the final version of Android P, which is being tested in beta since May. The update might take several months to reach smartphones from brands like Xiaomi.
To recall, the Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in March as a global exclusive and a high-end successor to last year’s Redmi Note 4. Xiaomi sold over 9 million units of Redmi Note 4 and it hopes to replicate the same success with the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
