The Redmi Note 5 was the first smartphone in India to receive update to stable Global ROM of MIUI 9.5 last month. It was expected that a similar software update with some bug fixes, quick search options and more will be released to Redmi Note 5 Pro. Now, the update seems to have been clubbed with the release of Android 8.1 Oreo update.
Xiaomi is yet to post an official changelog for the smartphone, and XDA Developers reports that the MIUI thread detailing the change has been taken down by the company. The Redmi Note 5 Pro users have the option to either get the MIUI 9.5.6 Global Stable ROM as an OTA update or manually flash it using the Recovery ROM and the Fastboot ROM. There is a possibility that Xiaomi would have pulled down the file from MIUI thread based on reports about bugs present in the ROM and they could be working to fix it.
Over at MIUI forums, several users are already complaining about facing issues with the latest update. A moderator on one of the MIUI threads had released some details of an MIUI 9 Beta Stable v188.8.131.52.OEIMIFA for Redmi Note 5 Pro. He explained that the update is being pushed to random users and most people will have to wait for the public release and confirmed that it will be made available as an OTA update only.
In case you own a Redmi Note 5 Pro then you can manually check for the update by heading to Settings -> About Phone -> System Update -> Check for Updates. It might take few hours for the OTA update to pop up since the release is in a phased manner.
