Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro MIUI 10 update rolling out with October security patch and other fixes

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, the best-selling mid-range smartphone was launched in March, and is currently the most popular smartphone in the sub-Rs 15,000 price segment. While the device is set to get a successor later today, it remains popular among consumers due to its approachable price point, dual rear camera setup and improved performance.

While the focus of the device has been around hardware specifications, it is also getting improvements in the software department. The device is now getting the latest software update, which concentrates on improving key elements of the device that would otherwise affect the performance. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is now getting MIUI 10 with version number, and a number of users have taken to Reddit to report about this update.

The firmware is reportedly rolling out for the global variant too, and customers in India will also be receiving the update. If you haven’t received the notification for the software update then you can manually check for the update by heading to Settings -> Software Update. One user notes that this update requires 1.6GB of internal storage space, but others claim that the update requires a storage of mere 303MB.

The MIUI v10.0.4.0 update for the Redmi Note 5 Pro brings October 2018 security patch to the smartphone. It also addresses issues related to memory leak reported by Redmi Note 5 Pro users. Other enhancement comes in the form of optimization to RAM usage for each application.

There are also fixes focusing on the lockscreen experience while status bar and notification bar are also receiving a fix with this update. MIUI v10.0.4.0 also brings tweak to camera color reproduction, and there are users claiming that performance and battery life has improved after this update.

To recall, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro received a price cut recently, bringing the price of entry-level model down to Rs 13,999. This particular device comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is also a variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage priced at Rs 15,999.
