Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, the premium mid-range smartphone will be available for purchase today at 12PM. The smartphone will be available from both Flipkart as well as Xiaomi’s own Mi.com. The Redmi Note 5 Pro has emerged as the most sought after device in the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment since its launch in March.
Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro as a premium version of Redmi Note 5 in March. The smartphone replaces last year’s Redmi Note 4, which was the best selling smartphone last year with sales surpassing 10 million units. While Redmi Note 5 is the spiritual successor, the Redmi Note 5 Pro offers improved cameras and faster processor.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 13,999 but has received a price hike after received import duty on mobile components. The smartphone is now available at Rs 14,999 for the base model with 4GB RAM while the premium model with 6GB RAM is priced at Rs 16,999. As part of today’s sale, Xiaomi is also allowing customers to buy the smartphone with cash on delivery option. Those buying the Redmi Note 5 Pro will be eligible for Rs 2,200 instant cashback and additional data from Reliance Jio.

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro sets the bar high for a mid-range smartphone in the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment. It features a modern design with aluminum unibody casing and thinner bezels surrounding the display. Xiaomi has equipped the smartphone with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display offering a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and taller 18:9 aspect ratio.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB standard storage. The Snapdragon 636 is the first chipset in the mid-range segment to get custom Kryo cores that offer better performance and improved battery life. The Redmi Note 5 Pro also comes with dual rear camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel image sensors. There is a 20-megapixel selfie camera with dedicated LED flash and support for face unlock.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is currently running MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat but the company has started rollout of new version based on Android Oreo in a staged manner. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery and has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. This year, the smartphone is facing stiff competition from Oppo’s Realme 1 and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, which offers competitive features at a discounted price.
