A new Xiaomi device has appeared at US’ Federal Communications Commission (FCC) hinting at an imminent launch. The new smartphone is tagged under the model number MDG6S, and it is speculated to be the Redmi Note 5A Prime.
The FCC listing spotted by Android Headlines reveals the nitty-gritty of the smartphone along with a series of images. Going by the images, the smartphone looks similar to the Redmi Note 5A Prime that was first announced in August in China. From the image, the smartphone is seen sporting a metal unibody design with a curved glass-layered display on the front. On the back can be found a single-lens primary camera setup with LED flash, and the fingerprint scanner is positioned in the center.
The smartphone has speaker grille and micro-USB port at the bottom, whereas the 3.5mm jack and IR sensor are located at the top edge. While the FCC listing does hint that Xiaomi could officially enter the US market with its first smartphone in the country, it shall be taken with a pinch of salt. The Chinese manufacturer has not yet officially commented on any plans for the US expansion of their business. For now, a consumer can only use Xiaomi smartphone by importing it in the country.
