After recently launching the Poco F1 smartphone in India, Xiaomi is all set to introduce the Redmi 6-series in India next week. These smartphones include the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and the Redmi 6 Pro. At the same time, Xiaomi also seems to be working on the Redmi Note 6 Pro, a successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Chipset details of the Redmi Note 6 Pro have surfaced. According to a post on Weibo, spotted by MySmartPrice, the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with an octa-core CPU. It will be coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and another variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There is no word on the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage variant, but considering it was launched in India last year, the same could be expected this year too. If indeed the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 660 SoC, it will be a good upgrade as the Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is also expected to come with a notched display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. There is currently no word on when Xiaomi plans to launch the smartphone.
To recap, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India at Rs 14,999 for the variant with 4GB RAM, whereas the 6GB RAM variant sets you back by Rs 16,999. It comes with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
As mentioned above, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC, and available in two storage variants both having 64GB storage, with 4GB or 6GB RAM options to choose from. In the photography department, the smartphone comes with a dual-camera setup at the back with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front is a 20-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling. With 4,000mAh battery to keep things ticking, the smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS.
