Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, the successor to Redmi Note 5 Pro, is now official. The smartphone was launched at an event in New Delhi today, and it comes with a notched display and dual camera setup at the front as well as rear. It improves on the design of its predecessor, and is priced competitively compared to other devices in this price segment.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro was extremely successful in the sub-Rs 15,000 price segment and with the aggressive pricing, Xiaomi wants to keep the crown for best smartphone brand in the mid-range smartphone segment. At this moment, the Redmi Note 6 Pro does not seem to have any major competition but it will face real challenge with the launch of Realme U1 and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here is how the Redmi Note 6 Pro stacks up against the Motorola One Power and the Zenfone Max Pro M1 from Asus.

Redmi Note 6 Pro vs One Power vs Zenfone Max Pro M1: Design and Display

With the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Xiaomi is shifting to a design language that appeals to consumers. In the past few months, we have seen that consumers adapt to smartphones with a notched display and dual camera system faster than other designs. So, Xiaomi is doing just that by adding a notch to the top, which is considerably wide.

The smartphone has also been curved a bit further to allow for a better grip and hand feel. Otherwise, it sticks to the design language seen on Redmi Note 5 Pro early this year. There is a small chin at the front, and the fingerprint sensor is placed on the back. It sports a 6.26-inch display with Full HD+ resolution of 2280×1080 pixels, which is bigger than the 6-inch display seen on its predecessor.

Motorola One Power comes with a 6.2-inch display supporting Full HD+ resolution of 2246×1080 pixels, which translates to 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Like Redmi Note 6 Pro, the Motorola One Power’s display also features a notch that is as wide as the one found on Apple iPhone X. It features a rugged design and is thicker and heavier than other smartphones due to massive battery under the hood.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is crafted out of a single piece of aluminum, and it features a taller display design. It sports a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, and 18:9 aspect ratio. Its form factor is similar to that of Redmi Note 5 Pro and will appeal to those who find notch as a distraction.

Redmi Note 6 Pro vs One Power vs Zenfone Max Pro M1: Specifications

The Redmi Note 6 Pro is not a huge upgrade in the hardware department. It comes in two storage variants with option for 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and 64GB storage as standard. It is powered by the same Snapdragon 636 SoC with Adreno 509 GPU, but the device should be faster thanks to software improvements coming with release of MIUI 10. It now supports dual-SIM dual VoLTE, which has been a much requested feature by most smartphone users.

The One Power and Zenfone Max Pro M1 are also powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC. The Snapdragon 636 is an octa-core chipset with custom Kryo 260 cores that allows for improved performance and battery life. The Motorola One Power is offered in only one storage variant of 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and recently got updated to Android 9 Pie.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes in three storage variants of 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage.
