Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi has just teased a new product launch on their official social media pages. The Mi India Facebook and Twitter post includes a blurred image, with only the date in focus. The blurred image has an outline of a diya, indicating the before Diwali launch of the Redmi Note. Hugo Barra had confirmed to BGR India earlier, that the Redmi Note will be launched before Diwali for Rs 9,999. Xiaomi could announce its phablet today but launch it next week as it is known for conducting its flash sales on Tuesdays. It has already announced the sixth flash sale for the Redmi 1S on October 14 (a Tuesday again), where up to 1,00,000 units will be up for grabs and 2,00,000 people have already registered for it. They made an exception with Flipkart’s Big Billion Day sale on October 6, when it gave out 25,000 units of Mi 3 to previously registered customers, and also made 1,50,000 Redmi 1S units available for sale.
The Redmi Note sports a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display, Mediatek s MT6592 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage with a microSD card slot, 3,100mAh battery and 13-megapixel rear/5-megapixel front cameras. Towards the end of the year, Xiaomi might also release the latest Redmi Note 4G model as the company is working on a variant that can work across both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE.
Barra had also mentioned that the Mi 4 launch will not happen before December. The Mi Pad, Xiaomi’s answer to the iPad, is also scheduled to be unwrapped alongside the Mi 4.
Update: Xiaomi just unveiled the blurred image on their social media pages and looks like we will have to wait a little more for the announcement of the Redmi Note. Xiaomi is currently just running a contest for Diwali. They are giving away Redmi 1S units, along with other prizes. The contest is scheduled to end on October 17 and the winners will be announced on October 20.
