The first Xiaomi Redmi Note flash sale yesterday was over in a blink of an eye, and not surprisingly many potential buyers were left disappointed. Some of the lucky ones who did manage to grab the phablet, are now selling it at a premium on sites like OLX, eBay India and Quikr. 50,000 units of the Redmi Note were sold on Flipkart yesterday, where almost 350,000 users were registered for the sale. The Redmi Note is officially priced at Rs 8,999, but users are selling it for as high as Rs 16,498. There was a similar scenario when Xiaomi had launched the Mi 3 earlier this year. The company however revealed that they would honor the warranties of the devices bought off these websites. When quizzed about this scenario at the Mumbai launch event of the Redmi Note, Barra said, It’s just unfortunate economics.”

Users who have managed to get the device in their carts have posted ads on these site and are asking interested buyers to make an initial payment of Rs 999 or Rs 1,029, after which the device will be home delivered with the cash on delivery option. The device is selling on eBay India for as high as Rs 16,498. OLX and Quikr both have many ad listings of the Redmi Note going for as high as Rs 14,999. They are even looking for potential buyers on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
