Xiaomi had showcased the Redmi Note in India back in July, alongside the Redmi 1S. The phablet sports a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display, and is powered by a 1.7GHz Mediatek s MT6592 octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Additionally, the device also features 8GB internal storage, microSD card support, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and a 3,100mAh battery. As far as the pricing is concerned, the Redmi Note was announced for Rs 9,999, but chances are it could be launched for less than that. Xiaomi used a similar tactic with the Redmi 1S, which was launched for Rs 5,999 or Rs 1,000 lower than the announced price.
As was the case with the Redmi 1S, Xiaomi is likely to unveil the smartphone on Monday. With the entry-level smartphone set to go on sale on Tuesday on Flipkart, the Redmi Note would most likely be available a week later on December 2. Xiaomi recently started a contest on Facebook in the run up to the event, which was the first indication that the launch was imminent. The company s VP Hugo Barra too had recently gone on record to say that India was the next market to get the phablet after Indonesia.
We will be at the event bringing you the latest news, so stay tuned.
