The Xiaomi Redmi S2 has been a part of the rumor mill for the past couple of weeks. First, the firmware files revealed that the smartphone will be a part of the Redmi-series, then the smartphone was spotted on certification site TENAA, revealing some key specifications. Now, the alleged Redmi S2 has also cleared China’s 3C certification, hinting that the launch may not be too far.
Spotted by 91Mobiles, the certification does not reveal any features or specifications of the smartphone. However, based on previous leaks and rumors, it is expected to be a budget smartphone featuring a design like the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 6X. From the previously leaked photo on TENAA listing, we can see that the smartphone comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back, vertically placed dual cameras, and Apple iPhone 7-like antenna band design.
Xiaomi Redmi S2 rumored specifications, features
Talking about the specifications, the Redmi S2 could sport a 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. While the leaked listing revealed a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC under the hood, we highly doubt that, especially if it is expected to be a budget phone under Rs 10,000 price range. The smartphone is expected to come in three storage variants – 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage.

With a budget price tag, Xiaomi is likely aiming to disrupt the segment, and Redmi S2 could be the first smartphone in its range to come with dual rear camera setup. Leaks hint at a 12-megapixel primary sensor, and a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor to add DSLR-like blur effects to your photos.
Up front, a 5-megapixel sensor is expected with support for face unlock feature. The smartphone will likely be armed with a 3,000mAh battery to keep things ticking. On the software front, it could run Android Oreo OS wrapped under MIUI.
