Xiaomi‘s Redmi Y is the new selfie-focused smartphone series that was launched in India last week. Under this new series, two new smartphones were launched Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite. The Redmi Y1 is available in two variants 32GB variant with 3GB RAM priced at Rs 8,999, and a 64GB variant with 4GB RAM priced at Rs 10,999. The Redmi Y1 Lite, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 6,999. Both the smartphone are all set to go on sale today in India. The sale will commence at 12:00PM via Amazon India, and mi.com. The smartphones can also be purchased via Xiaomi s offline retail partners including Reliance Digital. The Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite will be available in two color options of gold and grey. As a part of the introductory offer, Xiaomi is offering Idea Cellular users a chance to avail up to 280GB of 4G data. This offer however is applicable for new Idea Cellular users only. Xiaomi’s mi.com is offering accidental and liquid damages with Mi Protect starting Rs 499. Apart from that, users buying any of the two smartphones can also avail free 12-month subscription of Hungama Music.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite also sports a 5.5-inch HD display, and a Snapdragon 425 quad-core SoC. For photography, the device is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support, and a 5-megapixel snapper for selfies. Both smartphones come with connectivity options like dual-SIM support, 4G with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. The smartphones also feature a rear fingerprint sensor. Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 3,080mAh battery. On the software front, both run on Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top.
