Xiaomi Redmi Y2 receiving stable MIUI 10 update in India, gets all-new full screen gestures

The latest stable MIUI 10 update is based on Android Oreo.

Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM for the Redmi Y2 smartphone from Monday. The company has officially announced the rollout on MIUI Forum and even users in India have started reporting about Stable OTA update being rolled out on their Redmi Y2 devices.

The MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM is first for India starting with Redmi Y2. The OTA update version number MIUI weighs 501 MB in size, and it includes August security patch. The update is based on Android Oreo.

The changelog by Xiaomi notes that the update designed for full screen experience. It brings all-new full screen gestures that will change the way you interact with your device and lets the content take the front stage. The device has full screen mode gestures since launch as well, but it seems Xiaomi has made some changes. The complete changelog (via FoneArena) includes Redesigned Notification Panel, Redesigned Volume Sliders, Improved multitasking management, natural sound system, and more.

Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Y2 with Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.5 in June. The highlight of the Redmi Y2 is its cameras. For selfies, the smartphone boasts a 16-megapixel camera up front with f/2.0 aperture, Super Pixel, AI Beautify 4.0, and LED flash. At the back is a dual-camera setup that includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor, and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor.

The Redmi Y2 flaunts a 5.99-inch HD+ display with a tall 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core chipset paired with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with a 3000mAh battery.
