Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi Y2 in India today. The Redmi Y2 is said to be the rebranded version of the Redmi S2, which the company launched in China earlier in the year. According to the latest reports, the phone is expected to be priced at Rs 9,999 for the lower variant, and Rs 11,999 for the high-end variant. The phone will be available exclusively on Amazon India. Carrying forward its lineage, the Redmi Y2 is expected to be a selfie centric smartphone and will most likely carry a 16-megapixel camera powered by AI. Other specifications are said to fall under the mid-range category. Rumors have also suggested that the phone will be available in three color variants dark grey, gold, and rose gold. Xiaomi Redmi Y2 India launch live stream
Xiaomi’s event for the Redmi Y2 launch is set to kick off at 3:00PM today, and you will be able to watch it live online. The company will be live streaming the event on its YouTube page, and even has a placeholder on its official website. Under the hood, the Redmi Y2 is expected to run the Snapdragon 625 SoC. The base variant of the phone is said to carry 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the high-end variant is expected to come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB on inbuilt storage. At the front is 5.99-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) display which has thin bezels around it and an aspect ratio of 18:9.
The 16-megapixel camera at the front comes with a range of AI features which include, Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty, and Front HDR. It also supports Face Unlock and an LED flash for taking stunning selfies at night. At the back is a dual-rear camera setup, which consist of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro-USB port. The phone is also said to pack a 3,080mAh battery and run Android Oreo, layered possibly with the new MIUI 10, which the company is also expected to launch at the event today.
