Xiaomi today added a new smartphone in its selfie-centric Redmi Y series. Dubbed Redmi Y2, the smartphone is the successor to last year’s Redmi Y1. Read on to find out how and when you will be able to buy the new Xiaomi smartphone.
Xiaomi Redmi Y2 pricing, availability
Xiaomi today launched the Redmi Y2 in two variants. The base variant with 32GB storage and 3GB of RAM is priced at Rs 9,999. The top variant with 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM is priced at Rs 12,999.
The new smartphone will be going on sale via Amazon India, mi.com, and Mi Home stores starting from June 12. Buyers will be able to choose from three color variants – Dark Grey, Rose Gold, and Gold. There is also a transparent case that is bundled with the device.

When buying the Redmi Y2 using an ICICI Bank credit or debit card, buyers will get an instant Rs 500 discount. Bharti Airtel is also offering its users Rs 1,800 cashback while buying the Redmi Y2, and up to 240GB of free data.

Xiaomi Redmi Y2 specifications, features
To recap, the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 comes with a 5.99-inch HD+ 18:9 display, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa-core chipset under the hood. There is a microSD card slot to expand the internal storage, and a 3,000mAh battery underneath that is said to be good enough to last a day.
The rest of the specifications include a dual-camera (12-megapixel+5-megapixel) setup at the back, 16-megapixel AI-powered selfie camera, fingerprint sensor, and Face Unlock feature. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and micro-USB port. On the software front, the Redmi Y2 runs Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.5.
