Xiaomi reveals Redmi 1S, Redmi Note, Mi Pad and Mi 4 India launch timelines

China’s largest smartphone vendor Xiaomi has set the Indian market abuzz for both right and wrong reasons. While its Mi 3 smartphone is selling thousands of units in mere seconds, it has also frustrated consumers who are desperately trying to buy it. But this is just the beginning as the company is preparing to launch its range of smartphones, phablets and tablets in India. While engaging with BGR India readers, Xiaomi’s vice president of international operations, Hugo Barra, revealed the timelines of when these products will be launched in India. Barra says this phablet will be available before Diwali. Towards the end of the year, Xiaomi might also release the latest Redmi Note 4G model that was launched in China yesterday as the company is working on a variant that can work across both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE.

Mi 4: This is the latest flagship smartphone from Xiaomi that was launched on the same day in China when the Mi 3 was launched in India. It flaunts a 5-inch full HD 1080p display and is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Also included is 16GB of internal storage. The flagship device also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,080mAh battery that the company claims can survive for a day and half on normal usage. Barra says that the Mi 4 will be launched in India towards the end of the year.

Mi Pad: Xiaomi’s answer to the iPad is by far one of the best Android tabs we have seen so far in terms of design, specifications and pricing. The Mi Pad has a 7.9-inch (2048 1536 pixels) display with pixel density of 326ppi, 4:3 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by Nvidia’s Tegra K1 processor with 192-core Kepler GPU clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. The Mi Pad also features an 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a non-removable 6,700mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough for eight hours of music playback, 11 hours of video playback and 1,300 hours on standby mode. Barra suggests that the India launch will happen along with the Mi 4 towards the end of the year. Both devices are undergoing certification currently.

Apart from these, Xiaomi is also interested in launching the Mi TV 2 but is currently looking for content partners in India.
