Xiaomi in India has quite a successful run in the first half of this year and today the company announced selling over a million Redmi 4 units to testify its immense popularity among the Indian smartphone consumers. The Chinese manufacturer launched the affordable Redmi 4 smartphone in India earlier this year in May and the company has reportedly achieved the 1 million milestones in a very short span of time. Manu Kumar Jain, India Head of Xiaomi posted the figures on his official Twitter handle. Jain also outlined how the company created a record by selling over 1 million units of the Redmi Note 4 smartphone prior to the new record which has been achieved in just 30 days. In perspective, Redmi Note 4 is a mid-ranger smartphone with better specs and higher SoC as compared to the budget-friendly Redmi 4. While Redmi Note 4 is powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset, the Redmi 4 is powered by Snapdragon 435. Priced at Rs 6,999, the Redmi 4 smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM and 32 GB onboard storage. The Redmi 4 features a 5-inch display offering 1280X720 pixels of resolution and it is layered with a 2.5D curved glass on the top. It features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and packs a 4,100mAh battery. The storage is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. In the camera department, it has a 13-megapixel primary camera and for selfies, it has a 5-megapixel shooter on the front. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 based MIUI 8 custom OS.
The company has till now launched Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 smartphones in India, the Redmi 4 being the latest one. Xiaomi’s success with three smartphones this year has reportedly broken its own records corresponding to the previous year.
