Xiaomi launched the Redmi 3s Prime in India last week, and the smartphone went on sale for the first time yesterday on both mi.com and Flipkart. For the first time Xiaomi started selling a new smartphone in an open sale rather than conducting its infamous flash sales. However, the results were not much different. Xiaomi India head Manu Jain has now revealed that 90,000 units of the Redmi 3s Prime were made available yesterday, but there all were sold out in just eight minutes. “We did a launch sale without registration for the first time ever, as we were confident that we had a significant volume with more than 90,000 units. However, I am extremely humbled and at the same time stumped by the incredible response we have got for Redmi 3S Prime,” Jain wrote in a mail to BGR India. He further said that the next open sale for the Redmi 3s Prime is scheduled for August 17, when the Redmi 3s too will be available on open sale along with the Redmi 3s Prime.
Despite the significant increase in the number of units that were made available by Xiaomi, it is impressive how soon the stocks ran out on both platforms. The Redmi 3s and the Redmi 3s Prime are both made in India, and are competitively priced at Rs 6,999 and Rs 8,999 respectively.
In our Redmi 3s Prime review, we highly recommend the smartphone considering everything that is on offer for the price tag. Our only concern was if Xiaomi would be able to have enough stocks to keep up with the demand. It is good to see a marked increase in the number of available units, but judging by the eight minutes time frame, Xiaomi will hopefully have much more units next week.
